30kWp Roof Top Solar Power Plant successfully installed by Radiant Solar Private Limited at MACFAST College, Tiruvalla, Kerala.

State’s first solar-powered campus, perhaps the first one of its kind in the whole country, is coming up in Thiruvalla.

Mar Athanasios College For Advanced Studies Thiruvalla (Macfast), the first private self-financing college in the State that had carved a special niche for becoming first on many fronts over the past one decade, is soon to add yet another feather on its cap of achievements by becoming the State’s first solar-powered campus.

Thanks to its visionary founder principal, Fr Abraham Mulamoottil and his successor, Fr Pradeep Vazhatharamalayil, for this praiseworthy achievement.

Macfast has installed a 30 kw rooftop solar power plant envisaging an yearly production of 45,000 units (kilowatt hours) of electricity which could meet half of the annual power demand of the institution.

The design and installation of the solar power plant has been done the Hyderabad-based Radiant Solar Private Limited with approval and support from the Union Ministry for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and ANERT attached to Department of Power, Kerala.

Electricity Minister, Aryadan Mohammed, will inaugurate the solar power plant at Macfast as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the college on 26th November 2011.

Our group company 'Regen Power' is partnering with Solar & Wind Power Training facility at Mt Gambier TAFE.

Mount Gambier TAFE South Australia Campus located 450 kilometres south of Adelaide can now boast that it has the very best facility in Australia for training technicians and installers involved in domestic renewable energy systems. The $150,000 "Solar & domestic wind turbine installation and grid connect training centre" was built by TAFE students and largely financed by industry sponsors.

The site features a ground level roof structure which has a tiled section, a corrugated iron section and a Trim deck section so students can practice installing solar panels on all roof types. There are also separate controllers and electronics for each set of installed panels.

Radiant Solar is proud since our group company 'Regen Power is to be associated with the TAFE as supplier of a 2.4 kW Skystream grid connected wind turbine and a custom built Live Remote Monitoring System which currently monitors the wind speed, solar radiation, energy consumption, energy produced by a 6kW Proven wind turbine, energy produced by the 2.4kW Skystream wind turbine and the energy produced by 3 nos of roof mounted solar photoelectric systems. Our director & Regen Power chairman, Professor Chem Nayar, was the guest speaker at the official opening ceremony and gave a full day workshop on” Micro Grid and Remote Area Power Systems” attended by about 40 engineers and technicians on 10 August 2011.

Our group company 'Regen Power' is also working with Mount Gambier TAFE to develop a mobile renewable energy training facility on a large trailer that will have both solar panels and a wind turbine fitted. This can be towed to anywhere in Australia, allowing technicians in remote areas to get hands-on experience with the technology.

Our Director of the board and our group company 'Regen Power' Founder, Professor Chem Nayar wins Sustainable Energy Ambassador Award for 2011

Professor Chem Nayar- Curtin University Personal Chair and Professor in Electrical and Renewable Energy Engineering and Founder and Managing Director of Regen Power Pty Ltd and Director of Radiant Solar Pvt. Ltd. - won the Sustainable Energy Industry Excellence and Innovation Ambassador Award for 2011. The award ceremony, was held in Perth on 24th March 2011 at the Bellevue Ballroom, Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.

The SEA Awards for Excellence and Innovation from the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia (SEA) honor outstanding achievement in the advancement and adoption of renewable energy technologies across Australia.

The Sustainable Energy Industry Excellence and Innovation Ambassador Award (sponsored by Western Power ) is presented to an outstanding individual that has, through philosophy, attitude, behaviour and action, shown commitment and leadership in the areas of sustainable energy, energy efficiency or greenhouse gas abatement / mitigation.

Professor Chem Nayar has dedicated his entire career to the sustainable energy industry and is renowned for his pioneering contributions in teaching, research and development; and, commercialisation of solar and wind power systems in Australia and overseas. His PhD (1985) from the University of Western Australia on harnessing wind power to generate electrical power was the first of its kind in Australia.

Professor Nayar has excelled through the university academic ranks and was promoted to the Personal Chair at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Curtin University in 1995. He established the Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies (CRESTA) which was at the forefront of renewable energy research and development and training for over 15 years. He was Program Manager for the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Renewable Energy ( ACRE) . He also became the first Program Manager for Research and Development at the Research Institute of Sustainable Energy (RISE) at Murdoch University.

He established Regen Power Pty Ltd which now has offices in Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. Professor Nayar is also the director of Radiant Solar Pvt Ltd - Hyderabad, India) and the Managing Director of Sola Now Pty Ltd T/A Sunterra specializing on low cost roof top solar power systems.

Our grouop company 'Regen Power' was awarded the Product and Technology Award for Solar Hybrid Power System Technology

Our grouop company 'Regen Power' was awarded the Product and Technology Award by the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia (SEA). The award ceremony, recognising sustainable energy excellence and innovation, was held in Perth on 24th March 2011 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The SEA awards have been developed to honour outstanding achievements and offer opportunity for enterprise members, non-profits, retailers, government authorities and individuals to be recognised in front of their peers for their major achievements in advancing the adoption of renewable energy across Australia.

The Product and Technology award is for any innovative new renewable energy product, introduced onto the market since the start of 2010.

Regen received the award for its Variable Speed Diesel/Bio-Diesel Generator marketed as HybridGen™. HybridGen has been developed to provide a cost-efficient alternative to conventional diesel generating systems. Its conceptualisation and design has been developed cognisant of the problems faced by a conventional diesel power system such as the engine operating on low load affecting wet stacking and cylinder glazing of the engine, poor fuel efficiency, maintaining stable voltage and frequency under varying wind and solar inputs. The innovative technology developed for HybridGen improves the reliability, quality and efficiency of supply while also providing considerable diesel fuel saving.

Regen Power’s expertise in the field of remote area renewable energy electrification has been drawn from various research activities and publications of its founder and managing director, Professor Chem Nayar and Regen Power Intellectual Property which includes US Patent titled ‘Power conversion system and method of converting power’ (US Patent Number - 7,072,194, in 2006). Prof Nayar is the principal inventor of this patent which has been assigned to Regen Power.

The salient features of the Regen Power Variable Speed Diesel/Bio-Diesel engine are greater efficiency and improved performance reliability. The key innovation, in addition to these inherent advantages, is that with the help of a smart controller, the machine can be readily integrated to other renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics and wind power. Given the intermittency of solar and wind, this is a major step forward to supplying a more predictable and dependable output. The new technology allows the diesel generator to run at variable speed (rather than at a constant speed) while maintaining constant frequency and voltage; delivering the variable load.

Congratulations to our Director of the Board Mr. Jaydeep Krishnan for winning the INDIA INNOVATION GROWTH AWARD FOR 2011
